So, I struck it rich…

December 11, 2006 by Maren 8 Comments

Thanks for all ya’ll who commented about the belt stool–I appreciated it!  The same day I went to the thrift store to get belts, I kept returning…multiple times.  The thrift store had all these OLD Fisher price toys.  So, I bought them all up to resell on ebay.  WHOOHOO.  If only I had the little people figurines, I could make some big bucks…Let’s take a walk down memory lane…Remember the old cash register with the red, yellow, and blue coins?  Remember the old plastic record players that play old nursery rhyme tunes?  Remember the old tv that scrolls through Jack and Jill?  Yep, got ’em all…and a couple other villages…let’s just say I struck it rich, though the cashier thought I was crazy, and made it known. LOL

This weekend, Michael and I went out on a date to the Bristol.  A lady from our church works there.  Any of you Louisvillians who have never been, should go.  Good restaurant.  I had the best black bean soup I’ve ever eaten along with grilled chicken tapas and veggies.  Don’t have much other news as far as interesting posts go… So, I’ll just leave you with a picture and sign off.

Thanksgiving pics… my CUTE nephew!

First game of Football with Grandpa

One’s not good enough mommy!……………………..Mission Accomplished!

We had a wedding reception type party at our house last night.  I was holding baby Parker.  Can you tell me where his mommy was?  Give you one guess.

Not much news other than that…At the party, we had a huge spread.  I always worry we won’t have enough food, but then end up with AMPLE!  I think I get that from my mom.  At our wedding, she made all the food for 500.  She asked a caterer doing our cake if she had planned enough food.  The caterer told her that it sounded like enough unless she was feeding farmers, then she needed more than that.  Funny, Michael’s father is a farmer and many of the people in their communtiy who came were also farmers.  We rolled over 2400 meatballs alone…needless to say we became meatball-rolling pros before it was over, as well as bulk food producing in general.  We had leftovers for FOREVER.  We’re still eating them….okay, that’s an exaggeration…

Back on track…last night…Krista made two DELICIOUS hot Dips and Cloud made the PERFECT wedding celebration cake.  It was a heart shape, and I was so thankful she enjoys making them.  I made other items, but nothing as delicious as their stuff!   Sorry the picture is cut already.  We had impatient mouths to feed.

Tonight, I’m going on a much needed date with my husband.  Meeting in a school building, he has to set up the chuch every Friday night for a couple-hour chunk of the evening.  ( Oh, the blessings people take for granted)!  Afterwards, though, we’re going out!  He stays so busy working on the church plant, so “alone” time with him is always greatly anticipated!  I’m excited!  WHOOOHHHOO.   I hope your weekend is terrific!

Ummm….yeah.  That title about sums up the story of my life.  Today, nothing is seeming to go right.  I won’t bore you with all of the laborious details, but I will tell you this one…I have a very wise role model in my life that I really respect because she always chooses to say something positive or nothing at all.  I try to do likewise, but I sometimes fail…okay, all too often, actually.  So today, I had a question about a coworker and his children from a previous marriage.  I im’ed another coworker to ask her (the entire company is on an im system.)  YEP, hit the wrong name, emailed someone completely random my question and there you have it.  I am thankful I wasn’t saying something negative about him, just asking a nosey, personal question.  Still, I definitely learned my lesson.  One more reason why I hate I.M.

On another note:  Michael and I went to Cincinnati this past weekend.  Of course, I forgot my camera until it wasn’t worth the trip back to retrieve it.  So, pictures are at the mercy of our the friends we went there to meet.  Don’t have any to share at this time, but will do so when I get them.  Isn’t it great to relax and reconnect with old friends?  Love it.

Here are some pics from my photography class “homework.”  I was experimenting with light and shutter speeds. All were taken without a flash–so I’m learning to adjust the other settings to take in the light.  Fun stuff.

Busy weekend of random things…

My weekend in a nutshell…

Friday, we set up for our church as we do regularly on Fridays.  Sometimes, I help.  Sometimes, i take a break.  This week, I helped.  Just one of the “growing pains” of starting a church that you don’t think about before going down the “church planting” road.  We have to set up all of the staging, chairs, sound, nursery, kids area, signs, etc. etc. etc.  Good things are happening, though, and we’ve been encouraged as of late!  Thanks to GOD!

We got a TON of work done to our house this week, thanks to my father-in-law Frank and Michael!  Those two worked like crazy and got a LOT accomplished!  YEAH!

Saturday, some friends came from Indianapolis, and we enjoyed their company through yesterday. We went to the mall Saturday.  I’m probably the only person in America that can never find something to buy at a mall when I’ve got a $30 gift card to use!  Last time, I held on to a gift card for 10 months before I used it!  HA!  I hate shopping, and it overwhelms me…that’s why my shirt in the picture looks like a background for an elementary school picture.  Oh, well…I like it.  No worries…I’m just trying to fade in with the tree…..errr…yeah, that’s it.  LOL.

So, that’s about the story of my weekend.  Hope your week’s a good one!
